Supporting Waste Management, BPD Bali Receives Award from Badung Regency Government
Bank Pembangunan Daerah (BPD) Bali has received an award from the Badung Regency Government. The award was given for BPD Bali’s participation in the Source-Based Waste Management Programme in Badung to support the Clean Bali from Waste Movement. The award was presented by the Deputy Regent of Badung, I Bagus Alit Sucipta, during the Coordination and Evaluation Activity for Accelerating Source-Based Waste Management in the Tourism Sector at the Giri Nata Mandala Cultural Hall, Badung Government Centre, on Thursday (7/5/2026). The award was received by the Business Director of Bank BPD Bali, I Nyoman Sumanaya. Sumanaya expressed thanks to the Badung Regency Government for the award. He stated that Bank BPD Bali will continue to support efforts towards a Waste-Free Bali. One form of support is the distribution of composter bins through the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. “These composter bins were previously handed over by the Regent of Badung to the village heads/sub-district heads and neighbourhood heads throughout North Kuta Sub-district at the North Kuta Sub-district Office,” explained Sumanaya. Sumanaya hopes that this assistance will encourage the community to manage waste at the source. “Addressing the waste problem is a collective obligation, so it is hoped that it will soon be resolved and completed in line with our shared expectations,” he added. The Regent of Badung, I Wayan Adi Arnawa, emphasised that organic waste must be processed independently at business premises and not directly disposed of at the final processing site (TPA). Business actors in hotels, catering, and restaurants (horeka) are also required to sustainably reduce the use of single-use plastics. The Badung Regency Government mandates that every business unit has a verified waste management system and routinely fills in waste management data. The data serves as the basis for policies. “The Badung Regency Government will increase supervision and law enforcement. Sanctions will be imposed on business actors who do not comply,” stressed Adi Arnawa. “In addition to socialisation and education, we are also conducting supervision in the horeka sector with assistance from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. Through today’s coordination and evaluation, we hope there will be commitments and steps that can be implemented by business actors in the tourism sector,” said Adi Arnawa.
