Supporting the Financial Journey of Indonesian Migrant Workers, BRI's Remittance Business Grows 27.7% YoY Ahead of Eid 2026
PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BRI, continues to strengthen its support for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) and their families through integrated remittance services, facilitating the transfer of funds from abroad to Indonesia, including during the Ramadan and Eid periods.
This commitment is reflected in BRI’s remittance transaction performance, which shows positive growth. In February 2026, the value of BRI’s incoming remittances from PMI abroad increased by 27.7%. This rise stems from the high volume of PMI transactions during the Ramadan 1447 H period.
BRI’s Director of Treasury and International Banking, Farida Thamrin, stated that BRI is committed to supporting the financial needs of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) and their families at every stage of their journey.
“Through the spirit of Teman Seperjuangan PMI by BRI, we aim to continue accompanying PMI in sending funds to their families back home. In this regard, the achievement of remittances sent by PMI is largely used to meet family living needs in Indonesia, including preparing for the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H celebration,” she said.
BRI records that the highest remittances from PMI originate from Malaysia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. These fund transfers are subsequently received by PMI families in various regions across Indonesia, particularly in West Java, Lampung, and West Nusa Tenggara.
Furthermore, BRI’s efforts to strengthen services for PMI align with the government’s vision of creating equitable welfare throughout the country. This also supports the Asta Cita of the Government, particularly the sixth Asta Cita, which focuses on development from the villages to promote economic equality and poverty alleviation.
Farida added that BRI’s remittance services serve as a vital link between PMI working in various countries and their families in Indonesia. Through these fund transfers, PMI not only help meet household needs but also maintain purchasing power and contribute to driving the economy in various regions.
As a bank with an extensive network reaching remote areas, BRI continues to provide remittance solutions that make it easy for PMI to send funds to their families in Indonesia. Through BRI Remittance services, transfers from abroad can be made via various mechanisms, either directly to the recipient’s account or through cash pickup services without an account at all BRI branches and BRILink agents spread across Indonesia.
