Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Universitas Syeikh Nawawi Banten (USNB) held the 2nd Bachelor’s Graduation Open Senate Session for the 2025-2026 Academic Year, attended by the 13th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. (H.C.) K.H. Ma’ruf Amin, on 25 April 2026. This event served as a strategic moment to affirm USNB’s commitment as a civilisation-based campus that integrates heritage, research, and modern science.

During the occasion, K.H. Ma’ruf Amin expressed appreciation for USNB’s development, which he deemed consistent in advancing education based on Islamic values and modern knowledge. He emphasised the importance of integrating scientific knowledge and morals amid rapid technological advancements.

“Higher education institutions must be capable of producing a generation that is not only intellectually intelligent but also morally strong and able to make real contributions to the community and the nation,” stated K.H. Ma’ruf Amin.

In line with this, USNB affirmed its two main missions: to produce al-mutafaqqihina fiddin (religious scholars) capable of guiding society on the right path, and al-mu’ammirina al-ardha (experts in science and technology) tasked with prospering the earth. The concept of prospering the earth refers to the teaching that humans are created from the earth and given the responsibility to preserve it, not destroy it, and to add value for the goodness of life.

USNB interprets “imaratul ardh” as efforts to preserve existing goodness, avoid damage, and introduce added value for welfare. Thus, knowledge is not merely a tool of understanding but also a means to build an ethical and sustainable civilisation.

K.H. Ma’ruf Amin also supported USNB’s approach in promoting a civilisation campus concept that combines heritage and modern science as a response to contemporary challenges.

At this graduation moment, USNB announced a strategic step by opening new study programmes under the Faculty of Science and Technology, namely Informatics and Artificial Intelligence. Both programmes have obtained operational permits from LLDIKTI of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology.

The Rector of Universitas Syeikh Nawawi Banten, Hj. Siti Haniatunnisa, emphasised that the opening of these programmes is part of the campus’s grand vision to prepare outstanding generations in technology while grounded in Islamic values.

“This step is not merely academic development but part of our great endeavour to build future generations who master technology while possessing depth in values and ethics,” she explained.

Previously, USNB has also established collaborations with several institutions, including Institut Teknologi Bandung, as well as international partners such as Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications and Southwest University through double degree programmes. Collaborations are also conducted with Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia to support campus internationalisation.

The graduation, also attended by the Regent of Tangerang Regency, Drs. H. Moch. Maesyal Rasyid, simultaneously reaffirms USNB’s commitment to producing generations of scholars and scientists who master knowledge, possess strong morals, and are ready to contribute to building civilisation in the future.
