Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has provided an update on the handling of passengers affected by the incident at East Bekasi Station as of Saturday, 2 May 2026 at 07:00 WIB. From the data on the handling of 106 passengers, 76 have now returned home, while 24 are still being treated in hospital.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, stated that the main focus at present is to ensure every passenger can go through the recovery period with sufficient support.

“We understand that the recovery process takes time. Therefore, we continue to accompany passengers and their families, ensuring that needs during treatment are met, and providing trauma healing services so that the recovery process can proceed more calmly,” said Anne.

KAI continues to operate an Information Post at East Bekasi Station until 11 May 2026 as a support space for passengers and families. Through this post, follow-up health services, administrative coordination, and trauma healing are carried out in stages to ensure every process is handled more directedly.

On the other hand, the passenger lost and found service is still ongoing. As of 2 May 2026 at 06:00 WIB, a total of 115 items have been found, with 57 items handed over to their owners, while 58 others are still in the verification process. KAI urges passengers who feel they have lost items to collect them via the East Bekasi Post.

At the incident site, support from the community continues to arrive. Residents and communities come to offer prayers and leave flowers as a form of care. This presence serves as a strength for families going through difficult times.

As time progresses, services at East Bekasi Station have resumed serving the public. Since operations resumed on 28 April 2026, the KRL passenger volume has reached 15,774 for Gate In and 20,575 for Gate Out.

In the support process, KAI also pays attention to the continuity of life for bereaved families. Support in the form of education guarantees is provided to children of deceased passengers, so that hopes remain alive and the future can continue.

KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin stated that all current efforts are focused on recovery and future safety.

“We continuously express our deep condolences and apologies to all passengers and families over the incident at East Bekasi Station. We will continue to accompany every family and passenger in this recovery process. The prayers and care that are present become a strength for us to continue safeguarding safety in the future,” Bobby concluded.
