Sumsel Police Chief Emphasises Police Performance Depends on Media Support: We Are Ready to Accept Corrections and Suggestions
Palembang – The Regional Police Chief of South Sumatra, Irjen Sandi Nugroho, held an iftar meal together with media personnel across South Sumatra at the South Sumatra Regional Police Headquarters on Friday 27 February 2026. The event served as an opportunity for networking and strengthening the strategic partnership between the South Sumatra Regional Police and the press in supporting the maintenance of public security and order (kamtibmas) that is safe, conducive, and harmonious in South Sumatra.
The Regional Police Chief was accompanied by the Deputy Regional Police Chief of South Sumatra, Brigjen Rony Samtana, the Internal Affairs Inspector Kombes Feri Handoko Soenarso, and all senior officials of the South Sumatra Regional Police. The event was attended by media personnel from various platforms, including print media, online media, television, and radio.
In his remarks, the Regional Police Chief of South Sumatra emphasised his commitment to building warm and open communication with press personnel as strategic partners of the police.
He conveyed that the success of police duties cannot be separated from the support and cooperation of the media, particularly in conveying information to the public responsibly.
“As a new official at the South Sumatra Regional Police Headquarters, there is certainly a great desire to greet and build warm communication with all press personnel,” said Sandi.
Sandi also expressed appreciation to journalist colleagues who have helped convey the achievements and dynamics of the South Sumatra Regional Police in an informative, educational, and constructive manner, so that police information can reach a wider audience, even at the national level.
“The various achievements and dynamics of the South Sumatra Regional Police have been conveyed widely to the national level, which is inseparable from the role of media colleagues,” he said.
On this occasion, Sandi requested support and corrections from the media for the improvement of the quality of police duties and services. He emphasised that the South Sumatra Regional Police is open to receiving suggestions and prepared to collaborate with the media to strengthen public security and order.
“For this reason, I request support and corrections should there be any shortcomings in the execution of duties. We are open to receiving suggestions and prepared to collaborate,” the Police Chief stated firmly.
The Police Chief expressed hope that the networking and partnership with press personnel would not only be established during the Ramadan period, but would continue and strengthen in the future as part of a joint effort to maintain stability and harmony in South Sumatra.
