Sumatra Disaster Victims to Receive Rp 8 Million in Furniture and Economic Stimulus Aid
The Head of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in Sumatra, who also serves as Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, has outlined the financial aid scheme for Sumatra disaster victims. Tito stated that affected victims would receive Rp 5 million in economic stimulus assistance and Rp 3 million in furniture aid.
"There is assistance for furniture and economic stimulus of Rp 5 million, and furniture of Rp 3 million," said Tito during a meeting with House of Representatives (DPR) leaders at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/2/2026).
"For severely damaged [homes], they automatically receive both types of assistance, totalling Rp 8 million," he added.
Meanwhile, for the categories of light and moderate damage, assistance will still be provided. Tito said aid of Rp 3 million could be given.
"For light and moderate damage, economic stimulus can also be provided, because in the field their homes may be moderately damaged but their furniture is destroyed, so they can be given Rp 3 million in assistance," he said.
"Similarly, their home may be lightly damaged but their rice fields are destroyed, so they can also be given Rp 5 million in economic assistance," he continued.
He said the data collection process is currently being carried out by the government. Tito also urged Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, known as Gus Ipul, to immediately execute the budget that has been prepared for the victims.
"This is currently in the data collection stage — those with light and moderate home damage but whose furniture or small businesses, for example, are destroyed in the field. This is the data that is being urgently compiled by local governments. But for severely damaged [homes], they automatically receive furniture and economic assistance," he said.
