Students from SMA Taruna Nusantara campuses in Magelang, Cimahi, and Malang visited the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, 16 April 2026. Their visit formed part of President Prabowo Subianto’s “Palace for School Children” programme.

The students were welcomed by Foreign Minister Sugiono and State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi. Both are alumni of SMA Taruna Nusantara Magelang.

Upon receiving the Taruna Nusantara students, Sugiono offered advice. The Gerindra Party general secretary urged the students to be sensitive to their surroundings and not apathetic.

“Do not be apathetic; get to know your environment, know what is to your right and left. If necessary, know the number of leaves on the tree in front of the gate. Be that detailed about things,” Sugiono said at the Presidential Palace.

The former House of Representatives member hoped the visit to the palace would inspire them to dream as high as possible. “Use what you gain while in the Merdeka Palace environment as inspiration for you,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Prasetyo Hadi advised the students to keep studying. “Whether you want a score of 10 or 100 in chemistry, you must be aware; you must study, you cannot not study. Whatever you want—enter the TNI, enter the Polri—you must be aware of the consequences. Yes, you must study, yes, you must be strong in running; learn those requirements or tests,” he said.

According to Prasetyo, the students are a chosen generation with great responsibility towards the nation. “From today until we breathe our last breath, imprint in your heart that you are indeed chosen and selected to serve the nation, state, and Indonesian people,” said this Gerindra Party politician.

On this Thursday, the Presidential Palace received visits from two schools. Besides Taruna Nusantara, students from SMP Negeri 39 Jakarta also visited the palace in a separate group.

The students had the opportunity to tour the Presidential Palace complex during this visit programme. The “Palace for School Children” programme has previously received visits from other schools to the head of state’s office.
