JAKARTA - The Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), Aan Suhanan, conducted a surprise inspection (sidak) at the Green SM taxi depot in Bekasi following the train accident at Bekasi Timur Station on Tuesday night (28/4/2026).

Kemenhub aimed to ensure that the Public Transport Company Safety Management System (SMK PAU) is fulfilled by Green SM.

Aan, along with his team, examined the completeness of administration, vehicle worthiness, operational readiness, and other safety aspects.

“We want to ensure that the safety management system in public transport companies is implemented in accordance with regulations. From the initial inspection results, there are several findings that we will investigate further,” he said, quoted from Antara on Wednesday (29/4/2026).

In addition to vehicles, driver health was also checked.

“In organising public transport, there are several safety elements that must be fulfilled in accordance with SMK PAU. This sidak is to ensure that all those aspects are implemented, from pre-operation vehicle checks to driver competency and health,” he explained.

Due to this incident, the KRL was categorised as an Extraordinary Journey (PLB) with code 5181.

“This accident was caused by a short circuit or electrical problem from the four-wheeled electric taxi vehicle, where the problem occurred exactly at the Ampera crossing, the railway crossing at Ampera,” explained Sandi, quoted from Kompas.com on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

Although this incident did not cause any fatalities, it is suspected that the shockwave led to the Argo Bromo Anggrek train colliding with KRL PLB 5568, resulting in 14 deaths and 84 others injured.

“(The Argo Bromo train hitting the KRL) may be due to a lack of coordination or information, unable to provide comprehensive or accurate information to the Argo Bromo Anggrek train,” he said.

This is because there was no railway gate there.

“Yes, we cannot say this was a breakthrough because this crossing does not have a railway gate like the one we see there,” he explained.
