Students Protest at the DPR, Call for Indonesia to Withdraw from the Board of Peace
Crowds staged a protest in front of the MPR/DPR RI building in Central Jakarta. They demand that the Indonesian government withdraw from the international organisation Board of Peace.
Detikcom’s observers at the scene on Friday (6 March 2026) saw the crowd delivering speeches from a command vehicle. The protesters, comprising students and civil coalitions, are calling on the Indonesian government to withdraw from Board of Peace, arguing that it is a principal instigator of the wars in the Middle East at present.
‘Today we demand the President withdraw from Board of Peace, which is said to be a peace body but has become an analyst of the war in the Middle East,’ said the speaker from the top of the command vehicle.
The crowd also put forward other demands. They called for the trade agreement between Indonesia and the United States to be cancelled.
‘In recent days the world situation has not been good. Today we demand that the government or the House of Representatives cancel the trade agreement between the United States and Indonesia,’ he said.
The demonstrators arrived carrying banners and placards. They also stated their demand that the Indonesian military (TNI) should not be sent to the Gaza region.
Meanwhile, traffic management arrangements were prepared to anticipate conditions on site. A total of 210 police personnel were deployed to secure the protest.
‘For flexible traffic management depending on the situation, 210 personnel will be deployed for security at the DPR,’ he concluded.
