According to news reports, the fatal bus accidents suffered by University of Sriwijaya students often happen on the Palembang- Indralaya route. If action is not taken, other unwitting students will essentially be waiting for their turn to take a death ride.

These youths, the nation's future, are the victims of a decision to move the university campus to Indralaya. The decision was premature because preparations are still not finished.

Some have suggested building a railway straight to the campus from the Payakabung station, in addition to the two-lane highway from Kertapati that is being built.

We accept these plans, but students will continue to die in road accidents until construction is complete.

In my opinion, the right decision is to defer moving the university campus to Indralaya, and stick to the old one in Bukit Besar.

In the meantime, the old campus should be improved, along with its transportation system, which should be built according to a feasibility program.

To prevent an increase in the number of victims we hope that a harmonious solution can be found.
