Water flow beneath the collapsed road on Jalan Raya Lenteng Agung in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, has intensified, prompting authorities to narrow traffic lanes for road user safety.

On Saturday (30 May 2026), the collapsed section has been covered with steel plates to allow vehicle passage, but a hole on the roadside reveals water flowing beneath the asphalt.

Water mixed with soil is rushing strongly underneath, with chunks of earth and stones also being swept away by the current.

Near the water flow hole, several internet and electricity poles stand. To prevent them from collapsing, Public Infrastructure Management (PPSU) officers secured three poles with red ropes as a precaution.

At the site, a joint team from the Transport Department, Traffic Police, Civil Protection Unit, and Public Infrastructure Management are on high alert. The area around the hole is strictly cordoned off with police tape, orange barriers, and construction fencing.

As a result, the available lanes for vehicles have narrowed significantly, despite earlier efforts to keep three lanes open.

Although the road remains passable, officers remain on standby to monitor structural changes and traffic flow from Lenteng Agung towards Depok.

The collapse previously caused severe traffic jams on Friday (29 May) morning, with congestion stretching from north to south, particularly from Pasar Minggu to Depok.

SDA (Water Resources Office) aims to complete repairs within 2-3 days, with phased work to maintain traffic flow given the area’s heavy congestion.

“We are accelerating repairs to be done within 2-3 days,” said Santo, Head of South Jakarta’s SDA Sub-District Office, when contacted on Friday (29 May).
