Strengthening Green Financing: ITPLN Partners with BEI to Build Capital Markets Laboratory
Jakarta – Institut Teknologi PLN (ITPLN) is continuing to strengthen practice-based learning for its students. The campus plans to establish a Financing and Capital Markets Simulation Laboratory to prepare graduates of its Energy Business programme who are competent and job-ready in the finance and investment sectors.
ITPLN Vice Rector IV Ahsin Sidqi stated that the establishment of this laboratory is part of the institution’s commitment to developing application-based learning through direct experience (experiential learning).
“The number of Energy Business students continues to increase in both quality and quantity. Therefore, we are promoting learning that is not only conceptual but also provides simulation experience that approaches real industry conditions,” said Ahsin in his statement on Friday, 27 February 2026.
To realise a laboratory with capital market simulations that are realistic and relevant to current conditions, ITPLN is exploring strategic cooperation with PT Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI). The collaboration encompasses capital market education and training, data access and simulation platforms, capital market certification training, and the development of learning modules based on real case studies from BEI.
Ahsin added that the presence of the Financing and Capital Markets Simulation Laboratory is also expected to support the government’s agenda in developing human resources in the sustainable finance sector, including the strengthening of the green financing ecosystem. Every ITPLN innovation programme can be accessed through www.itpln.ac.id.
“Through this collaboration, we want to produce adaptive energy and finance business talent with integrity and ready to face future challenges,” Ahsin concluded.
The cooperation plan received a positive response from BEI. Head of Regional Development 3 at BEI, Kemas M Rumaiyar, considered ITPLN’s initiative to align with BEI’s efforts in increasing capital market literacy and inclusion among young people.
“BEI is very open to collaborating with universities, including ITPLN, in the development of capital market education. A simulation laboratory such as this becomes an important means to bridge theory on campus with practice in industry,” said Kemas.
According to him, the use of real data and case studies will help students understand market mechanisms, risk management, and investment opportunities comprehensively. This is considered crucial in producing human resources ready to compete in the national finance sector.
He acknowledged that BEI continues to develop Investment Galleries and organise Capital Market Schools (SPM) in strengthening improved financial literacy and inclusion as part of the capital market education strategy. According to him, the BEI Investment Gallery is an information, education, and capital market access centre developed through collaboration between BEI, higher education institutions or non-higher education institutions, and securities firms that are members of the partner exchange.
“These galleries take several forms, including room-based investment galleries, education galleries for senior high school level, and digital investment galleries,” he said.
Meanwhile, through the Capital Market School (SPM) Level 1 programme which focuses on literacy and inclusion, BEI provides basic education regarding capital markets. The materials covered include personal financial management, investment objectives, benefits and risks of investment, and vigilance against illegal investments.
Additionally, participants also gain understanding regarding investment products in the capital market, the ease of investing, tips for beginner investors, and investment practice using applications of partner exchange members. Through this programme, BEI hopes to encourage sustained improvement in public understanding of capital markets.
