Strengthening Governance is Key to Renewable Energy Development
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian Palm Oil Entrepreneurs Association (GAPKI) Sumatra region held the Andalas Forum VI in 2026 in Palembang City recently. The event was organised as an effort to strengthen synergies in sustainable energy management in Indonesia.
With the theme “Energy Synergy for Economic Growth and Sustainability,” the forum provided a platform for the government, industry leaders, academia, and other stakeholders to collaborate across sectors. They aimed to jointly find solutions to the challenges posed by the global energy transition.
The Director of Finance, Risk, and General Management of the Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP), Zaid Burhan Ibrahim, stated that support in financing and strengthening governance is key to the development of palm oil-based renewable energy. According to him, biodiesel programmes and renewable energy development require targeted financing support.
“And strong governance to ensure sustainability. Therefore, collaboration between the government, fund management institutions, and industry players also needs to be continuously strengthened so that this sector can ideally contribute to Indonesia’s national energy security,” said Zaid in a press release in Jakarta on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
