Jakarta – PT Bank Syariah Nasional (BSN) has partnered with PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) regarding the utilisation of Islamic banking services and the integration of public transport payment systems. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the collaboration has been signed.

BSN Chief Executive Officer Alex Sofjan Noor stated that the partnership represents an important milestone for the newly established institution, which launched at the end of 2025, to become a trusted and reliable financial partner for families. Through this synergy, BSN is confident it can add value to Indonesia’s Islamic economic ecosystem.

This step marks BSN’s effort to strengthen market penetration in the urban transport sector, whilst promoting inclusive, secure, and efficient Islamic-based financial digitalisation for millions of Commuter Line users.

“BSN is confident that the collaboration will benefit all parties and support Indonesia’s Islamic economic and financial ecosystem. We want to make it easier for the public to access banking services through integrated technology,” Alex said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

He explained that a key point within the scope of the collaboration is the provision of a co-branded Multi-Trip Card (KMT) with a special design from BSN. Beyond the physical card, the collaboration also includes the development of KMT balance top-up features through integration with BSN’s banking system and digital payment services for train ticket bookings via the bank’s platform.

Alex added that this integration will be supported by the company’s latest mobile banking application performance, namely Bale Syariah by BSN. The application, which was launched in early February 2026, has been recorded as having more than 142 financial and non-financial features.

As of February 2026, Bale Syariah has served 126,401 users with transaction volumes reaching Rp1.57 trillion. This provides strong momentum for BSN to optimise services for KCI passengers who require fast and convenient transactions.

Beyond consumer services (retail), the synergy also extends to corporate services and employee welfare at PT KCI. BSN will provide cash management system services, virtual accounts, and payroll systems for KCI employees.
