Jakarta Propertindo (Perseroda), or Jakpro, is strengthening the waste-sorting campaign through its Jakgreen programme as part of supporting the Governor of Jakarta’s Instruction No. 5 of 2026 on the Waste-Sorting Movement. The initiative is being implemented through broad public education conducted simultaneously across the company’s workplaces and several public spaces managed by Jakpro.

The activities, held on 16–17 May 2026, took place at strategic locations such as the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), the Jakarta International Velodrome, Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), and Aston Pluit. The move forms part of efforts to drive behavioural change towards a more sustainable waste-management culture.

In its execution, Jakpro provides seven categories of segregated waste: organic, inorganic, paper, glass and shards, metal, hazardous and toxic waste (B3), and residual waste.

Not only introducing conventional waste-sorting facilities, Jakpro also unveiled AI-based waste-sorting machines. The technology is designed to recognise waste types automatically while providing an educational experience to the public.

This AI-based approach is viewed as helping to improve public understanding of waste types and to create a more interactive experience in shaping new waste-management habits in public spaces.

Iwan Takwin, Chief Executive Officer of PT Jakarta Propertindo (Perseroda), said that the waste-sorting movement is a crucial part of the green transformation the company is pursuing through Jakgreen.

“Jakgreen is not only about big projects or green technologies, but about how to foster behavioural change starting from daily activities. This waste-sorting movement is a step with a big impact in supporting a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Jakarta,” he said, as quoted from a press release received on Wednesday (20/5).

During the execution of the activities, Jakpro recorded a total of 18.9 kilograms of segregated waste managed. Residual waste accounted for the largest share with 13.09 kilograms, followed by plastics and packaging with 3.85 kilograms, bottles, cans, and glass with 1.78 kilograms, and organic waste with 0.18 kilograms.

All collected waste will be processed according to the respective management method as part of reducing waste from the source.

Iwan added that the success of waste management cannot be achieved without community support and collaboration across various parties.

“We believe sustainability must exist as a shared culture. Therefore, Jakpro seeks to provide facilities, education, and innovations that can encourage the community to actively participate in protecting the city’s environment,” he said.

Going forward, Jakpro states that the waste-sorting movement will be implemented sustainably across all areas and venues managed by the company as part of strengthening a corporate culture oriented toward environmental sustainability.

Beyond the technicalities on the ground, Jakpro is also finalising administrative matters. Various social activities have been organised for residents living around the company’s development projects and assets in Jakarta.

The DKI Jakarta provincial government seeks not only economic growth but also an improvement in residents’ quality of life, equitable development benefits, and strengthening global competitiveness.

Jakarta Propertindo (Perseroda) reaffirms its strong commitment to consistently and sustainably applying Good Corporate Governance (GCG) principles.

Jakpro urges the public to refer to official information from the Planetarium Jakarta via the TIM channel, given the high enthusiasm for Teater Bintang.
