The Bogor City Government in West Java continues to regulate and organise street vendors (PKL) in the Surya Kencana area. However, the city government still faces challenges from PKL originating from outside the city who operate at several points.

Bogor Mayor Dedie A Rachim, on Saturday (11/4/2026), stated that the regulation is ongoing as part of efforts to maintain order and comfort in the area, while also following up on community reports.

“This is part of our efforts. It’s not easy, but God willing, we are consistent and can do it. We are monitoring the results of the regulations that have been carried out so far,” Dedie said.

Based on reports received, he said, there are still individuals trying to take advantage of the situation by returning to sell in areas that have already been regulated. Dedie emphasised that organising the Surya Kencana area is a serious step in improving the face of Bogor City, while also supporting President Prabowo’s programme related to the Gerakan Indonesia ASRI (Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful).

“This effort is not easy, but we carry it out consistently as part of support for the ASRI Programme,” he said.

After the inspection, the Bogor City Government held a leadership meeting led by Deputy Mayor Jenal Mutaqin with regional apparatus officials to strengthen on-the-ground organisation measures. On that occasion, Jenal urged traders not to sell on roadways or footpaths, especially on Jalan Pedati, Jalan Bata, Jalan Lawang Saketeng, and surrounding areas.

“I understand that trading to earn a living is legitimate. However, there are mechanisms and locations that have been regulated. The Bogor City Government cannot carry out regulation without providing solutions,” Jenal said.

He also conveyed the results of data collection showing that most PKL in the area come from outside Bogor City. This condition is seen to also affect the cleanliness and order of the area due to low sense of ownership of the environment.

Nevertheless, the Bogor City Government ensures that the organisation is carried out gradually while prioritising a humane approach and providing alternative locations for the traders. As part of local government, they are obliged to maintain city order for the benefit of the wider community.

“But I am a Bogor native, paid by Bogor residents, so I am obliged to regulate,” he said.
