BOGOR, KOMPAS.com – Street food vendors (PKL) are still trading on the sidewalks of Jalan Suryakencana in Bogor City, forcing pedestrians to share the space with trading activities.

Based on observations by Kompas.com at the location, pedestrians are compelled to use portions of the sidewalk that are filled with PKL carts. On both the right and left sides of the road, vendors are lined up serving customers while preparing their goods on the carts.

Bogor Mayor Dedie A. Rachim stated that the City Government (Pemkot) has prepared a relocation plan for the culinary PKL to Jalan Roda 3 and 4, which are still within the Suryakencana area.

“So, they shouldn’t enter Jalan Roda but those outside are still trading. This requires cooperation, management, and socialisation. And we’re pushing for it,” said Dedie in Suryakencana on Monday (30/3/2026).

Head of the Department of Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, Trade, and Industry (Dinkukmdagin) of Bogor City, Rahmat Hidayat, explained that the relocation will be carried out gradually.

According to him, the Bogor City Government will first tidy up the PKL in the Bogor Market area to be moved to Jambu Dua Market and Gembrong Market in Sukasari.

“Gradually, after this, we’ll tidy them up to Jalan Jambu and Sukasari first, then later shift to Suryakencana,” Rahmat explained when met by Kompas.com in Suryakencana on Monday (30/3/2026).

He added that organising the PKL requires agreement across agencies to determine priority areas for tidying.

The process also involves stages such as re-registering vendors, socialisation, and preparing the cleanliness of the new location.

“Not yet (placed) because they haven’t moved yet, no instructions. So, the operation for us isn’t done haphazardly,” he said.

He stated that the two road sections are estimated to accommodate around 60 vendors.

“Almost 60. 60 in those two places. Yes, we’ve already arranged them nicely,” he remarked.

Nevertheless, the implementation of the relocation requires coordination across Regional Device Organisations (OPD), such as the Public Works and Spatial Planning Department for infrastructure and the Civil Service Police Unit for enforcement.
