STIE to hold seminar
JAKARTA (JP): Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi (STIE) IBEK will hold a two-day seminar on the fundamentals of Asian economies on March 12 and 13 at Hotel Horison.
President of STIE IBEK Laurence A Manullang said yesterday the seminar would feature a single speaker, Donald Wilson, former president of Pittsburgh State University and current president of Kilang Nusantara Pacific Consultants.
Donald Wilson said topics in the seminar, Asia, the awakening giant of 21st century, would include an integrated leadership system, the power of vision and culture as the major factor in the world and the Western and Eastern management and leadership style.
Wilson said Indonesia under the leadership of Soeharto had seen much development improvement with the lowering of inflation rates and poverty level, but that little had been invested in development of human resources and education.
This was in contrast to Singapore and Malaysia, both of which had invested large amounts in education and human resource development. Indonesia had not yet allocated sufficient funds in these areas. (09)
