Stern Warning from Minister Agus to Ministry of Immigration and Corrections Employees Against Involvement in Drugs
Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto has reminded all employees under his leadership not to engage in criminal acts, including narcotics trafficking, as heavy sanctions will be imposed.
“Do not destroy your own vessel by committing wrongful and illegal actions. You must protect this institution, and you already know the punishments for involvement in narcotics trafficking,” said Minister Agus Andrianto at the Immigration and Corrections Polytechnic Campus in Tangerang on Monday, 27 April 2026.
Agus stated that currently, 365 employees of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections have been sanctioned for proven violations while on duty, including involvement in drug distribution from within correctional facilities to extortion.
“Those employees are now undergoing punishment processes, and we ensure heavy penalties. Do not let these cases recur with others,” said Minister Agus.
Minister Agus also instructed all prison and detention centre heads to make optimal efforts to ensure no narcotics circulation occurs within them.
In addition, prison and detention centre heads are asked to humanise the inmates, as the current stigma has changed to providing guidance so that inmates regain hope for life after serving their sentences.
“The Correctional Institution is now transforming into a home for misguided individuals to become law-abiding and do good again,” said Agus.
Director General of Corrections Mashudi added that the 62nd Correctional Institution Anniversary serves as a key point in strengthening a more open, inclusive correctional paradigm oriented towards societal benefits.
“We realise that implementing correctional duties still requires various improvements. Therefore, we are committed to continuously enhancing performance, strengthening integrity, ensuring all programmes run effectively, and delivering real impacts,” stated Director General Mashudi.
