A child from Jampangkulon, Sukabumi Regency, identified as NS (13), died tragically in what is suspected to be a case of abuse by his stepmother, TR (46). TR, who has been named as a suspect, denies having committed any violence against the victim.

TR claims the injuries on the child's body were the result of a chronic illness. She insists the accusations against her are untrue.

"The accusations from netizens and the news reports are all untrue. I am not that cruel," TR stated in a written interview via a messaging application, as reported on Saturday (21/2/2026).

According to TR, the blistering wounds found across the victim's body were due to the child's health condition and not caused by hot water. She claims the victim suffered from blood cancer (leukaemia) and an autoimmune disorder.

"The child died from blood cancer, leukaemia, and an autoimmune condition. The blistering skin was caused by internal heat," she claimed.

TR feels she has become a victim of mob justice over the accusations levelled against her. She confirmed she is currently still undergoing police examination. When asked about photographs of her deliberately circulated by internet users and reports that she had previously been reported for violence, the woman did not respond.

Compiled data indicates the victim's physical condition during the external examination was deeply concerning. Head of Criminal Investigation at Sukabumi Police Resort, AKP Hartono, detailed the anatomy of injuries spread from the victim's face down to the feet.

"Post-mortem results show abrasions on several parts of the face, neck, and limbs. In addition, second-degree 2A burns were found at several points on the body, along with reddish-purple bruising indicating blunt force trauma," Hartono explained.

This medical evidence is now being cross-referenced with testimony from new witnesses, including medical teams from the local community health centre and Jampangkulon Regional General Hospital who had direct contact with the victim during the critical period.
