Statistics: Economic Growth Hits 4 Percent
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: National economic growth in the second quarter this year hit the highly expected four percent the statistics agency claimed on Monday. The agency said the economy rose by 4 percent year on year and about 2.3 percent from the previous quarter.
Head of the statistics agency Rusman Heriawan said three sectors with the highest growth during the quarter are utility (electricity, gas, and clean water) 8.1 percent, transport 4,7 percent, and agriculture 3.5 percent.
The overall quarterly growth was below the 4.4 percent recorded in the same period last year. Rusman said the Indonesia is targetting 4 – 4,5 percent of annual growth this year with total volume of the economy between Rp5,400 - 5,600 trillion.
