President Prabowo Subianto will require export activities of three natural resource commodities to be conducted through a single channel via a state-owned enterprise. ‘The proceeds from export sales will be handed to the state-owned company designated by the government for the operators of those activities. This can be described as a marketing facility,’ Prabowo said at the 19th plenary session of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. Prabowo stated that the aim of forming a company that becomes the sole exporter is to strengthen oversight and eradicate practices of underpayment or under-invoicing, price shifting or transfer pricing, and the outflow of export earnings. The Head of State is optimistic that the single export route will optimise tax and state revenues from the sale and management of natural resources. Currently, the government has designated the three commodities with the largest export volumes to go through that state-owned enterprise, namely palm oil, coal, and ferro alloys. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto explained that exporting of commodities will be conducted through a state-owned enterprise formed through BPI Danantara. The company is named Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia. So far, only three commodities have exports mandated to pass through its subsidiary Danantara. However, Airlangga said that eventually the government will require all strategic export commodities to go through Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia. The implementation process for the export governance policy will be carried out in phases commencing 1 June 2025. In the initial phase, export transactions will still be conducted by the company with the buyer. However, export documentation will be carried out by Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia. The second phase, on 1 September 2026, will see the entire export transaction process, including shipping contracts and payments, being carried out entirely by Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia. Meanwhile, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, CEO of BPI Danantara, said the new export policy will be evaluated within the first six months of its implementation. Rosan said that by January 2027, Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia will launch a platform for export transactions. ‘I call it one platform, multiple benefit, the world is happy, Indonesians are happier,’ he said.
