Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that the realisation of the state budget (APBN) as of 28 February 2026 demonstrates fiscal performance that remains strong and well-maintained. Purbaya noted that state revenue has grown positively and government expenditure has accelerated to support economic activity.

“We are accelerating spending this year so that the economy is driven from the fiscal side from the beginning of the year through to the end of the year more evenly than in previous years,” the finance minister said during a press conference on the APBN at the Finance Ministry’s office in Jakarta on Wednesday (11 March).

On the state revenue side, realisation reached Rp358 trillion, or approximately 11.4% of the APBN target, with growth of 12.8% year-on-year. This performance, according to Purbaya, was primarily driven by solid tax receipts.

Tax receipts reached Rp290 trillion, growing 20.5% compared to the same period last year. Within this, tax revenue reached Rp245.1 trillion with overall growth of 30.4%. Meanwhile, customs and excise receipts were recorded at Rp44.9 trillion or 13.4% of the target and experienced a contraction of 14.7%.

“This is primarily influenced by commodity price dynamics and industrial production. However, the latest data from yesterday showed growth again year-on-year, with excise tax growing by 7%. So we still expect the customs and excise revenue target to be achieved and perhaps even exceeded going forward,” he explained.

Meanwhile, government expenditure realisation reached Rp493.8 trillion, or approximately 12.8% of the APBN envelope, with growth of 41.9% year-on-year.

Purbaya stated that the expenditure was directed to support the government’s priority programmes, maintain public purchasing power, and drive economic activity from the beginning of the year.

With these dynamics, the APBN deficit was recorded at approximately Rp135.7 trillion or 0.53% of the APBN. Purbaya noted that this remains within the parameters of the 2026 APBN design.

According to him, government spending is now being distributed more evenly throughout the year so that its impact on the economy is more pronounced.

“That is why economic growth of 6% is hopefully still achievable. Overall, the combination of positively growing state revenue, accelerated spending to drive the economy, and a controlled deficit demonstrates that the APBN continues to play an optimal role as an instrument of stabilisation and also as a driver of national economic growth,” he concluded.
