State Budget Deficit Falls to Rp164.4 trillion in April 2026
Indonesia’s Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa announced that the deficit of the State Budget (APBN) up to end-April 2026 stood at Rp 164.4 trillion. This figure is lower than the deficit in March 2026, which reached Rp 240.1 trillion or 0.93 per cent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). ‘The deficit is only Rp 164.4 trillion or 0.64 per cent of GDP,’ Purbaya said at the APBN Kita press conference at his office in Jakarta on Tuesday, 19 May 2026. The primary balance posted a surplus of Rp 28 trillion. According to Purbaya, the fiscal position moving forward will improve as state revenue increases. As of 30 April 2026, state revenue reached Rp 918.4 trillion, or 29.1 per cent of the APBN target set at Rp 3,153.6 trillion. Revenue in April grew by 13.3 per cent year-on-year, reversing the 12.4 per cent contraction seen in April 2025. Tax revenue amounted to Rp 746.9 trillion, or 27.7 per cent of the Rp 2,693.7 trillion target, up 13.7 per cent year-on-year. Meanwhile, government expenditure up to 30 April 2026 reached Rp 1,082.8 trillion, or 28.2 per cent of the Rp 3,842.7 trillion target, up 34.3 per cent year-on-year.
