Starwood launches press club

JAKARTA (JP): U.S-based international hotel chain Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Inc launched on Thursday a complimentary international press club, called Starwood Press Club, for accredited journalists in the Asia-Pacific region.

The hotel chain, which operates nine hotels and resorts under the Sheraton name in Indonesia, said membership of the club is valid for one year. Members can join either by direct invitation or via an introduction from another club member.

"Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide understands the important role of mass media which has already helped with publicity of its hotels throughout the world," the hotel chain said.

Club members are eligible for a 50 percent discount on corporate room rates and a 25 percent discount at restaurants and bars at over 50 Starwood hotels and resorts in the Asia-Pacific area.

Starwood operates more than 650 hotels and resorts in more than 73 countries, under the names Sheraton, Westin, Four Points, Caesars, St. Regis Luxury Collection and W Hotels. (gis)
