Start Small, Consistently Invest

Ramadan survey by YouGov shows Indonesians allocate their Tunjangan Hari Raya (THR) for a variety of needs, including investments (26 per cent). As a result, investment literacy needs to be strengthened so people have a broader range of strategies when managing their investments. For beginner investors, one way to build a long-term investing habit is to start with a small amount, for example from US$15 (Rp252,000). This approach is more effective than waiting for a moment considered ‘perfect’, especially if executed regularly and consistently over the long term. To this end, global investment platform XTB Indonesia Berjangka, which provides access to United States stocks and ETFs, is inviting people to start investing during Ramadan via its Investment Plan feature. In addition, XTB Indonesia offers Free Stock Grab to help people begin their investing journey and to start building portfolio diversification. The move comes as Ramadan is often a time for people to reassess their spending and priorities, particularly after receiving THR. XTB Indonesia’s Chief Marketing Officer Aditya Kresna emphasised the importance of keeping investments simple and easy to manage for beginner investors by diversifying as a practical first step. ‘We are using the momentum of Ramadan to inspire smarter financial planning, especially when many people tend to be more spendthrift after receiving THR,’ he said in Jakarta on Friday night, 6 March 2026. To further facilitate Indonesians’ foray into investing, XTB Indonesia has introduced Investment Plan, which helps users invest in a more structured and long-term oriented manner thanks to an auto-invest system that provides access to over 50 global ETFs across various sectors and market indices. ‘With Investment Plan, users can build a diversified portfolio of US stocks and ETFs in line with their investment goals and risk profiles,’ Aditya explained. Users can also create up to 10 personalised portfolios and allocate funds regularly. This helps maintain investment consistency and avoid short-term decisions influenced by emotions, with an added benefit of zero per cent commission up to €100,000 (Rp1.95 billion) per month.
