JAKARTA (JP): Semarang is once again hoping to make into the record books with its contest to see who can stand on one foot the longest.

Jaya Suprana, the chairman of the Indonesian Museum of Records, said the contest will be held on March 25 at the Simpang Lima shopping complex.

The current world record for standing on one foot is held by M. Iklas of Indonesia, who went down in history last August in Jakarta, standing for nine hours, two minutes and 50 seconds.

Iklas, who is the "top seed" in the upcoming contest, said at the time, that he could have held on longer but decided to give it up when he surpassed the old record.

Jaya Suprana said the organizer is offering Rp 2.25 million to the winner of the contest and an additional Rp 1 million to anyone who sets a new world record. (emb)
