Tasikmalaya Police Chief AKBP Andi Purwanto said the cheap-food campaign (GPM) is part of a regional inflation-control strategy conducted with the Tasikmalaya City Government, Bank Indonesia, and Bulog. The strategy includes ensuring supply availability, smooth distribution, and effective communication to help residents obtain staple goods at affordable prices.

‘Alhamdulillah, through the cheap-food campaign (GPM) residents can obtain staple goods at affordable prices during Ramadan and Idulfitri 1447 Hijriah. However, food prices in markets remain relatively stable, though the price of red chilies remains nationally volatile, and we hope prices of chilies fall and that people can access staple goods at affordable prices,’ he said yesterday.

According to him, the GPM conducted in Purbaratu represents care for the community’s economy and aims to ensure orderly distribution of staple goods in Tasikmalaya Regency. The presence of police provides a sense of security for the public during the campaign.

‘Gerakan Pangan Murah (GPM) is a manifestation of the synergy between the Police and local government in supporting welfare for the community. We want to ensure that the public can obtain affordable staple food and maintain a safe and conducive kamtibmas environment,’ he said.

Meanwhile, Tasikmalaya Police Chief Wahyu Pristha Utama said the GPM conducted at the Masjid Agung Baiturrahman parking area is a form of police care for the public to ensure a secure supply of staple goods during Ramadan and Idulfitri. The basic needs are intended to stabilise the supply of staples in Tasikmalaya Regency and to maintain Kamtibmas.

‘Gerakan pangan murah is part of the instruction from West Java Police Chief, Irjen Pol Rudi Setiawan, to strengthen synergy between the police and the community, especially in maintaining food resilience. The Police understand the importance of affordable food for the public and ensuring residents can obtain staple goods in Ramadan and ahead of Idulfitri,’ he said.

He added that through collaboration on the cheap-food campaign with the Tasikmalaya Regency, Bank Indonesia, Bulog and the regional inflation-control team (TPID), the programme is expected to ease the burden on residents. The Tasikmalaya Police and the Tasikmalaya Regency will continue to provide the best service through the cheap-food campaign (GPM).

‘The GPM programme offers SPHP rice at Rp57,500 for a 5 kg package, cooking oil at Rp15,000 per litre, beef at Rp140,000 per kilogram, chicken meat at Rp54,000 for 2 kg, eggs at Rp28,000 per kg, red chilies at Rp50,000, shallots at Rp36,000, garlic at Rp40,000 per kg, granulated sugar at Rp17,500 per kg and wheat flour at Rp10,000 per kg,’ he concluded. The delivery of SPHP rice to Pasar Gedhe Klaten was carried out in two consignments. First, on Monday (23/2) 2,700 tonnes, and the second delivery on Friday (27/2) consisting of 2,000 tonnes.

Migratory homecoming traditions driving mobility also require early preparation.

Perum Bulog aims to distribute SPHP rice in 2026 at 1.5 million tonnes to maintain national price affordability for the wider public.

The National Food Agency states that the public can buy Bulog SPHP rice up to a maximum of five packs or 25 kilograms per person starting February 2026.

The government decision to extend SPHP distribution for 2025 to 31 January 2026 is considered a strategic step.

In Pasar Sumber, Cirebon Regency, for rice quality I and below II, prices are Rp14,000 per kilogram and Rp13,500 per kilogram respectively.

Meanwhile, green bird’s eye chillies, which previously averaged around Rp49,400 per kg, rose to Rp52,200 per kg.

Prices for curly chilli declined to between Rp30,000 and Rp35,000 per kg from a previous Rp40,000 per kg.
