The low-cost airline Spring Airlines is launching direct flights connecting Jakarta to Guangzhou, China, from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, starting 16 June 2026.

Teddy Rezadiansyah, President Director of Continental Travel Service Indonesia and Chairman of Yeesem Angkasa Indonesia, stated in Tangerang on Friday that all licensing, legality, and operational and commercial readiness processes have been completed. His firm has been officially appointed by Spring Airlines to represent the airline in Indonesia.

“The appointment has also received certification and approval from the Ministry of Transport,” Teddy said in his statement.

Teddy noted that Spring Airlines is one of China’s low-cost carriers, offering competitive fares to support passenger mobility between Indonesia and China. He expressed optimism that the Indonesian market will respond positively to the airline’s presence. Should demand continue to rise, the airline plans to increase flight frequencies to daily service.

“If the market welcomes us well, we will increase flight frequency to daily and may expand to other cities in Indonesia travelling to China and vice versa,” he added.

Pritanto Ade Saputro, Head of the Spring Airlines Representative Office in Indonesia, added that in the initial phase, Spring Airlines will operate two routes from Jakarta: Jakarta-Guangzhou (CGK-CAN) at 21:10 WIB and Jakarta-Shenzhen (CGK-SZX) at 19:20 WIB. The inaugural flights will utilise Airbus A320 aircraft.

For the Jakarta-Guangzhou route, flights are scheduled to operate three times a week, specifically on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, while the Jakarta-Shenzhen route will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

“The opening of these new routes is expected to strengthen air connectivity between Indonesia and China, while simultaneously supporting the growth of the tourism, business, and trade sectors in both countries,” he said.
