BPJS Kesehatan strengthens health protection for volunteers of the Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) in North Sumatra through the signing of a Technical Operational Agreement with SPPG across 33 regencies and cities, on Friday (22 May). The collaboration provides health protection for volunteers involved in the Free Nutritious Meals Programme under the JKN scheme.

The signing follows a Cooperation Agreement between BPJS Kesehatan and the National Nutrition Agency (Badan Gizi Nasional, BGN) on optimising the implementation of JKN within the National Nutrition Fulfillment Programme. The programme covers health protection for SPPG personnel and BGN, including Pegawai Pemerintah dengan Perjanjian Kerja (PPPK) and volunteers.

BPJS Kesehatan’s President Director, Prihati Pujowaskito, said the collaboration involves 85 SPPG foundations with 208 nutrition service kitchens in North Sumatra. From this collaboration, 2,247 volunteers will be registered as JKN participants.

“BPJS Kesehatan is committed to ensuring all SPPG volunteers receive active and sustainable health protection through the JKN Programme. They play a vital role in delivering the Free Nutritious Meals Programme, so health protection must be assured,” Pujo said on Friday (22 May).

Based on data matching with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), of the total 58,264 SPPG volunteers, 49,608 records were matched to the BPJS Kesehatan master file.

Pujo said BPJS Kesehatan will continue to accelerate health protection through the JKN Programme by strengthening coordination with the foundations running SPPG and regional stakeholders.

Referring to the Head of the National Nutrition Agency’s Decree No. 401.1 of 2025 on the Technical Guidelines for Managing the Free Nutritious Meals Programme for the 2026 Budget Year, SPPG volunteers — including head cooks, field assistants, food preparation and processing staff, distribution, hygiene, and security — will obtain accident insurance through BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and health protection through BPJS Kesehatan.

“We are strengthening synergy with the National Nutrition Agency, the foundations running SPPG, and local governments to ensure the optimal participation in the JKN Programme within the National Nutrition Fulfillment Programme can be sustained. This is also part of BPJS Kesehatan’s ‘Quick Wins’ initiative,” Pujo said.

Meanwhile, BPJS Kesehatan’s Director of Participation, Akmal Budi Yulianto, added that health protection for SPPG personnel is essential to ensure volunteers can work calmly and focus on government programmes.

He noted that the collaborative effort demonstrates BPJS Kesehatan’s commitment to supporting the implementation of President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita programme, particularly through the Free Nutritious Meals Programme as part of the Quick Wins outcomes.
