The Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) Karawang Klari Pancawati II was allegedly attacked and damaged by two men armed with sharp weapons. The attack is said to have been triggered by a personal debt issue.

According to information provided by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) on Thursday (19/3/2026), the violent attack and destruction at SPPG Karawang Klari Pancawati II took place on Tuesday (17/3) night. A video of the violent incident has also gone viral on social media.

In its statement, BGN indicated that the violence was allegedly triggered by a personal debt matter that escalated into a conflict and armed violence at the SPPG site. The perpetrators arrived together on a motorcycle and immediately sought out the security officer on duty.

An argument ensued, leading the perpetrators to brandish a machete and attack the victim within the SPPG premises. The security officer was forced to take shelter in the volunteer locker room while the perpetrators damaged the door with their sharp weapon until it broke and they entered the room.

The victim sustained injuries from machete slashes and broken glass, while SPPG facilities suffered damage including doors and equipment. Local residents, upon learning of the incident, immediately pursued the perpetrators as it unfolded.

One perpetrator was successfully apprehended, while the other fled. Police officers who arrived at the scene promptly handled the situation and processed the crime scene (TKP).

The conflict stemmed from allegations of embezzlement of motorcycle deposit funds amounting to approximately Rp 12 million. Tensions peaked when the victim demanded accountability, ultimately leading to the attack and destruction at the SPPG location.

BGN Response

Meanwhile, the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has spoken out regarding the attack on the SPPG in Karawang. BGN does not tolerate violent acts and ensures that the perpetrators will be processed legally.

“We ensure that the perpetrators are processed legally without compromise. The security of all SPPGs is an absolute priority,” stated Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sony Sonjaya, in his remarks.

Sony stated that his agency strongly condemns the violent act. He said BGN will fully monitor the legal process against the perpetrators.

“This is not merely an ordinary criminal act, but an attack on state facilities that serve the public. We will not tolerate such actions,” he said.

Furthermore, Sony added that BGN will strengthen security systems at all service points. He stated that BGN ensures the operations of the National Food Nutrition Programme (MBG) at the SPPG in Karawang continue by tightening oversight to guarantee the safety of personnel and the continuity of services for the public.

“We will conduct a total evaluation, including security and risk mitigation in the field to prevent similar incidents from recurring,” he said.
