Speed Limit of 40 Kilometres Per Hour on Prambanan-Purwomartani Toll Road
Yogyakarta – Motorists using the Prambanan–Purwomartani toll road section in the Yogyakarta region are urged not to exceed speed limits.
During operational use, vehicles traversing the Prambanan-Purwomartani toll road are permitted to travel at a maximum speed of 40 kilometres per hour.
Ahmad Izzi, Senior Expert in General Affairs at the Public Relations and Administration Division of BUJT Jasa Marga Jogja–Solo, stated that the speed restriction is being implemented as a safety measure for road users.
He made this statement during a Lebaran travel safety initiative covering West Java, Central Java, and the Special Region of Yogyakarta in Yogyakarta on Friday (13 March 2026).
“Road users are therefore advised to remain careful and vigilant. The maximum speed is 40 kilometres per hour,” he said.
According to Izzi, despite the speed limitation, the toll road remains capable of reducing travel time compared to using the national highway route.
The journey from Prambanan to Purwomartani, which typically takes approximately 30 minutes, can be reduced to around 15 minutes via the toll road.
He explained that journeys on the national highway from Prambanan to Purwomartani often encounter obstacles at several points. At least three locations frequently cause traffic congestion.
These three points are located at the Prambanan level junction, the Bogem area which often experiences heavy vehicle congestion, and the LPMP area approaching Purwomartani, which has numerous residential road accesses.
The toll road section is expected to serve as an alternative for travellers to avoid congestion on the national highway, particularly during periods of increased vehicle volume during the Lebaran travel period.
