Jakarta — The following are the specifications of the Pertamina Pride, one of two vessels still detained in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the official website of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, accessed on Tuesday (17 March 2026), the Pertamina Pride is a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC), or extremely large crude oil tanker.

On the official website of Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), the vessel’s year of build is listed as 2020.

The Pertamina Pride has an overall length (LoA) of 329.904 metres. The vessel’s total gross tonnage (GT) is 157,116 tonnes.

The Pertamina Pride is a single screw driven, single deck type crude oil tanker — a vessel with a single propeller driven by a main engine, with the hull equipped with one main deck and cargo tanks beneath.

The vessel’s International Maritime Organization (IMO) number is 9888493.

The VLCC Pertamina Pride remains detained and unable to transit the Strait of Hormuz, which is currently ravaged by conflict between Iran and a coalition led by the United States and Israel.

The Pertamina Pride is on a mission to transport light crude oil supplies to meet Indonesia’s domestic energy requirements.

In addition to the Pertamina Pride, another vessel operated by Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) is also detained due to the Hormuz situation: the Gamsunoro, a cargo ship serving third-party clients.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Indonesian representation in Tehran, has held meetings with relevant Iranian authorities and continues to coordinate closely with local officials to obtain up-to-date information regarding the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and to ensure the safety of Indonesian-flagged vessels,” said Indonesian Foreign Ministry spokesman Vahd Nabyl Achmad Mulachela to Kompas.com on Monday (16 March 2026).

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs maintains communication and coordination with PIS to monitor developments in the situation carefully,” Vahd said.

Two vessels had previously cleared the Hormuz strait: PIS Paragon and PIS Rinjani.
