Sparks "Paralyse" KRL Green Line for Hours...
SOUTH TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com - Operations on the Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung electric rail (KRL) line, or Green Line, were disrupted on Monday afternoon (4/5/2026) due to a fault in the overhead catenary power supply (LAA) between Jurangmangu Station and Pondok Ranji Station.
The disruption is believed to have been triggered by sparks on an electricity pole, necessitating the shutdown of the LAA supply for the safety of train operations.
As a result, KRL operations were widely affected. Several trips were rerouted, and major stations including Tanah Abang, Palmerah, Jurangmangu, and Pondok Ranji experienced passenger build-ups.
“For the safety of Commuter Line operations and the LAA network, the LAA supply has been temporarily shut down,” said Leza in a written statement on Monday.
Consequently, the route between Pondok Ranji Station and Sudimara Station has been impassable since around 4:30 PM WIB.
The power disruption caused several KRL trains to stop suddenly on the tracks.
Passengers inside the trains were asked to disembark, while stations near the disruption site began to fill with transport users.
“Passengers are currently asked to disembark as the KRL will be closed,” stated a post on the Instagram account @jalur5 regarding the on-site conditions.
To mitigate the impact of delays, KAI Commuter temporarily implemented operational adjustments.
“Commuter Line trips from Rangkasbitung or Parung Panjang directions are only going as far as Serpong Station, while those from Tanah Abang are only going as far as Kebayoran Station,” Leza explained.
This policy forced some passengers to switch transport modes. Nevertheless, some chose to wait longer at the stations.
The disruption also caused significant build-ups at Tanah Abang and Palmerah Stations. Hundreds of passengers were stranded from afternoon until evening, awaiting travel certainty.
One passenger, Putri (54), a resident of Cisauk, said she had been waiting for more than two hours.
