Southeast Sulawesi Deputy Governor Receives DPD RI Committee II Working Visit on Investment and Environmental Concerns

KENDARI — Southeast Sulawesi Deputy Governor Ir. Hugua received a working visit from Committee II of the Regional Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI). The advocacy activity aimed to listen to, understand the needs, hopes and concerns of communities in Konawe and South Konawe regencies.

The working visit sought to bridge community aspirations regarding investment developments and their environmental impact in the Konawe and South Konawe areas.

The meeting was attended by several key officials, including Deputy Chairman of DPD RI Committee II for the Southeast Sulawesi constituency La Ode Umar Bonte, DPD RI Committee II leader for the South Sulawesi constituency Abdul Waris Halid, and Director of Downstream Plantation Products at the Directorate General of Plantations, Ministry of Agriculture, Haris Darmawan.

Also present were Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Secretary Asrun Lio, the Regents of Konawe and South Konawe, representatives from the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), the BPN Regional Office for Southeast Sulawesi Province, the South Konawe Regency Land Office, PT OSS, PT VDNI, PT Tiran Indonesia, PT Cipta Agung Manis, PT Merbau Jaya Indah, DPW FSPMI, the South Konawe Farmers' Union (STKS), and various other stakeholders.

During the working visit, Deputy Chairman of DPD RI Committee II La Ode Umar Bonte conveyed several important points regarding issues of public concern. The meeting was expected to produce constructive and sustainable solutions for development in Southeast Sulawesi, taking into account the balance between economic growth and environmental preservation.

Deputy Governor Hugua welcomed the visit and affirmed the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Government's commitment to supporting responsible investment whilst heeding community aspirations.

"We appreciate the input from DPD RI Committee II and all parties present. We will continue to strive to ensure that development in Southeast Sulawesi proceeds harmoniously with the interests of the community and the environment," said Hugua.

The meeting marked an important step in the efforts of the government and stakeholders to create a conducive and sustainable investment climate in Southeast Sulawesi. It is hoped that the outcomes of this meeting can be promptly implemented for the advancement and welfare of communities in Konawe and South Konawe regencies.
