Southeast Asian Airports Enter the World's Best List, Including Those from Indonesia
Proud news has emerged from Southeast Asia, where several airports in the region have made it into the list of the world’s best airports according to global aviation consultancy Skytrax. Some of them have even experienced quite significant ranking jumps. In the latest report released in 2026, Asia continues to dominate the list of the world’s best airports. One that remains unshaken is Singapore’s Changi Airport, which has once again claimed the top position. According to Vnexpress (26/3/26), Singapore’s Changi Airport has successfully retained its title as the world’s best airport. This assessment is based on a passenger satisfaction survey covering various service aspects, from check-in and security to shopping and departure facilities. Not only excelling in service, Changi also recorded impressive operational performance. In 2025, the airport served around 69.98 million passengers, surpassing pre-pandemic levels and increasing by 3.4 percent compared to the previous year. Good news also comes from Indonesia. Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport has risen three places and is now at 22nd in the world. The airport’s management has expressed its commitment to continuously improving service quality. In its statement, the management emphasised a focus on passenger experience and enhancing service standards in line with public expectations. This airport is indeed one of Southeast Asia’s main gateways, with three main terminals serving domestic and international flights. In addition, Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport has also shown positive performance by climbing five places to 72nd in the world. This airport is known as the main entry point for tourists to Bali and continues to upgrade facilities to support the tourism sector. Thailand’s Suvarnabhumi Airport has risen three places to 36th in the world. This improvement is driven by operational efficiency, the use of technology, as well as enhancements in cleanliness and security. Meanwhile, Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur International Airport has also climbed five places to 60th. The airport recorded a growth in passenger numbers to 63.3 million in 2025, an increase of 10.8 percent compared to the previous year.
