On the second day of Operation Ketupat Musi 2026, the South Sumatra Police Regional Command strengthened security on mudik routes through several strategic measures to ensure traffic flow and provide safety for residents travelling through South Sumatra.

One key measure is the policy of blocking heavy vehicles with three axles or more at strategic points, particularly at the Sumarlin Traffic Post at KM 225, located on the border between Jambi and South Sumatra provinces, specifically in the Musi Banyuasin region.

This policy aims to separate the flow of large cargo-laden logistics vehicles from private vehicles of travellers, thereby minimising potential congestion and traffic accident risks.

Additionally, the South Sumatra Police activated a congestion resolution team comprising personnel from the Traffic Directorate and the Traffic Safety Directorate. The team was stationed at the Timbangan area at KM 12 Banyuasin to conduct mobile patrols and implement rapid traffic management measures in the event of increased vehicle volume.

Security was further strengthened in the Lubuk Linggau region through optimisation of four strategic posts: the Station Service Post, Lippo Integrated Post, Simpang Periuk Security Post, and Petanang Security Post. These posts are expected to maintain public safety and order throughout the mudik period.

At the Regional Police level, the Operation Ketupat Musi Task Force also regularly conducted analysis and evaluation of field situation developments. This measure ensured all personnel understood their duties and responsibilities in providing the best service to travellers.

The Regional Police Chief of South Sumatra, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, emphasised that inter-unit coordination is the key to successful mudik security this year.

“Heavy vehicle blocking at the border, activation of congestion resolution teams, and monitoring at all posts are strategic steps to ensure traveller journeys remain safe and smooth,” he stated.

Through these various measures, the South Sumatra Police committed to ensuring the Eid-season mudik exodus in South Sumatra proceeded safely, orderly, and smoothly, allowing residents to travel comfortably to their destinations.
