The South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel) simultaneously launched the Environmental Cleanliness and Beautification Programme (BELIDA) across three regions. The initiative was implemented as part of the Beautiful Indonesia Movement and to ensure the routes for the 1447 Hijri Eid-al-Fitr travel period were safe and passable for the public.

The event involved 106 personnel from seven units of Polda Sumsel. They carried out environmental cleaning and road repairs on Jalan Nurdin Panji in Palembang City, a provincial-status road.

Additionally, the Ogan Komering Ilir Police and North Musi Rawas Police also carried out similar activities in their respective areas.

The BELIDA programme positioned the police as drivers of cross-sector collaboration to improve infrastructure conditions and maintain environmental cleanliness at strategic points along mudik routes.

In Palembang City, the activity was led by the Director of Community Relations of Polda Sumsel as Head of the Beautiful Indonesia Movement Task Force, involving seven units including the Mobile Brigade, Traffic Law Enforcement, Water Police, Motorised Traffic, Community Relations, Special Crime Investigation, Public Relations, and Communication divisions.

Meanwhile in Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, Police Chief AKBP Eko Rubiyanto led road repair operations at the Three-Way Junction providing access to the Kayuagung toll gate in Celikah Village. A total of 65 combined personnel from Ogan Komering Ilir Police, Military District Command, Civil Police, Public Works and Infrastructure Office, and Communication Unit worked together to patch road potholes using a mixture of coral stone, sand, and cement.

Repairs were focused on the access roads to and from the Kayuagung toll gate, one of South Sumatra’s strategic mudik routes.

In North Musi Rawas, the North Musi Rawas Police, led by AKBP Rendy Surya Aditama, also conducted road repairs and community outreach activities in Sumber Makmur Village and Karang Anyar Village, Rupit District. The activities targeted village roads that serve as main mobility access for communities in South Sumatra’s outermost regions.

South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Sandi Nugroho stated that the BELIDA programme represented the police’s direct involvement in serving the community.

“When there are potholed roads or environments that need improvement, we are present alongside relevant agencies to fix them. This is policing that truly impacts the community,” said Inspector General Sandi.

Meanwhile, South Sumatra Police Public Relations Head Senior Commissioner Nandang Mu’min Wijaya emphasised that the coordinated activity across three areas demonstrated Polda Sumsel’s commitment to supporting safe travel during Lebaran (Eid celebrations).

“The BELIDA programme is not only conducted in major cities but also reaches remote areas across South Sumatra. This is a form of policing service that directly addresses community needs,” he said.
