South Sumatra Police Hold Ramadan Safari to Strengthen Inter-Agency Coordination for Public Order
The South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel) held a Ramadan 1447 H/2026 religious gathering together with the South Sumatra Provincial Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda). The event was aimed at strengthening coordination among stakeholders in the province.
The gathering took place at the As-Sa’adah Mosque within the South Sumatra Police headquarters on Thursday (19/2/2026) at 19:00 local time. It was attended by South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, South Sumatra Governor Herman Deru, Forkopimda members, senior Polda Sumsel officials, heads of regional agencies, and representatives of state-owned and regional-owned enterprises.
Police Chief Sandi Nugroho said that the Ramadan period serves as an opportunity to strengthen faith as well as cross-institutional solidarity. He affirmed that the South Sumatra Police would continue to maintain public order and security so that residents can observe the fasting month safely and peacefully.
Head of Public Relations at Polda Sumsel, Senior Commissioner Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, added that the event served as a strategic forum for strengthening relations and coordination among Forkopimda members.
“This Ramadan gathering reinforces our togetherness and commitment to maintaining security stability in South Sumatra. The South Sumatra Police are here to ensure the public can worship in peace throughout Ramadan and into Eid al-Fitr,” Nandang told reporters on Thursday (19/2/2026).
He also stated that the South Sumatra Police have prepared integrated security measures at places of worship, public activity centres, and traffic routes in anticipation of increased mobility during the holy month.
In his address, Governor Herman Deru expressed appreciation to the South Sumatra Police for hosting the event. He emphasised that South Sumatra’s zero-conflict status is inseparable from the active role of Polda Sumsel in maintaining public security and order.
According to the governor, the police’s contribution is also evident in the eradication of narcotics abuse and trafficking, as well as in securing the conduct of elections, ensuring they proceeded safely and peacefully. Herman Deru expressed hope that the synergy between the regional government and police would continue to be strengthened, including in managing the homebound travel flow ahead of Eid al-Fitr.
He also stressed that security stability has a direct impact on regional development and public welfare.
“The decline in poverty figures is inseparable from South Sumatra’s safe and conducive conditions, and that is thanks to our collective synergy, including the ranks of the South Sumatra Police,” Herman said.
The event proceeded solemnly and in a spirit of togetherness. In addition to religious lectures and communal prayers, the gathering reaffirmed the collective commitment to maintaining security and supporting safe and conducive regional development.
