Palembang, VIVA – South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Sandi Nugroho conducted a working visit and goodwill call to the Regional Leadership (PW) of Muhammadiyah South Sumatra on Thursday, 19 February 2026.

The visit formed part of efforts to strengthen synergy between the police and religious leaders in maintaining security and public order in the South Sumatra region.

Inspector General Sandi was accompanied by a number of senior South Sumatra Police officials, including the Head of Human Resources, the Directors of Intelligence and Security, General Criminal Investigation, Special Criminal Investigation, Narcotics, Traffic, Community Development, and Protection of Women, Children and Vulnerable Groups, as well as the Mobile Brigade Commander and Head of Professional and Security Affairs.

The delegation was received directly by the Chairman of PW Muhammadiyah South Sumatra, H. Ridwan Hayatuddin, together with the organisation’s leadership and supporting elements.

In his address, Sandi stressed the importance of collaboration between the police and religious figures as strategic partners in maintaining regional stability. He invited all elements of Muhammadiyah to play an active role together in creating a safe, peaceful and harmonious atmosphere amid the social dynamics of the community.

On the occasion, Sandi also introduced the 110 police service as a rapid complaints channel available to the public free of charge around the clock.

“In the police force, there is the 110 service. This service is free and connects directly to our operators. The operators will receive and listen to input, suggestions and complaints from the public,” said Sandi.

He explained that the 110 service is integrated and connected with the nearest district police stations, so that every report can be immediately followed up by personnel in the field, particularly the Samapta units as the frontline of rapid response.

Sandi urged the public not to hesitate in using the service should they encounter potential disturbances to public order, such as disruptive loitering, brawls or other suspicious situations.

“If you see things that could potentially disturb security, please call 110. With the support of technology, the caller’s position can be detected, making it easier for our officers to respond promptly,” he explained.

According to Sandi, the use of digital technology is part of the National Police’s transformation in improving the quality of public services. In line with the times, the police continue to improve in order to provide more professional protection, guidance and service to the public.

Meanwhile, Chairman of PW Muhammadiyah South Sumatra H. Ridwan Hayatuddin welcomed the visit by the Police Chief and his delegation. He affirmed Muhammadiyah’s commitment to continue supporting efforts to maintain public tranquillity through soothing religious outreach and the strengthening of national values.
