The Chief of Police for South Sumatra, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, has asked young people and students to maintain public spaces so that they remain healthy and conducive.

This was conveyed by Sandi during an iftar event with youth organisations and representatives of students from all over South Sumatra, on Thursday (26/2).

In his speech, Sandi emphasised that maintaining the stability and conduciveness of the region is a shared responsibility. He invited youth organisations and students to take an active role in building a positive climate and maintaining unity in the midst of diversity.

“Security and order are not only the responsibility of the police. Maintaining public order is the collective responsibility of all of us,” he said.

The Police Chief affirmed that this joint iftar event is also a moment to strengthen national brotherhood and strengthen communication between the police and young people.

“This event is not just about breaking the fast, but it is a space for friendship, a space for dialogue, and a space for togetherness to strengthen brotherhood within the framework of the nation,” he said.

Furthermore, Sandi said that young people and students also have a very central role as drivers of the narrative of unity and strategic partners in maintaining public spaces that are healthy and inclusive.

According to him, future leaders will emerge from among young people and students, so their active involvement in maintaining conduciveness is a social investment for South Sumatra.

On that occasion, Sandi also reaffirmed the commitment of the South Sumatra Police to open up constructive communication channels with all elements of youth and student organisations.

“The communication channels are always open. Criticism, suggestions, and input are part of strengthening the institution,” he concluded.
