The first discovery was made by the Narcotics Unit of Palembang Metropolitan Police. Two drug dealing suspects were arrested within less than 24 hours.

The first suspect, initial MF (23), a casual daily labourer, was arrested on Tuesday (10/3/2026) at approximately 21:30 WIB in the Lorong Cempaka Kuning area, Kelurahan 26 Ilir, Bukit Kecil District. During a search, officers found six packets of methamphetamine weighing 2.09 grams gross, stored in the suspect’s trouser pocket. Under initial examination, MF admitted the methamphetamine was his and that he planned to resell it.

Less than 16 hours later, police arrested the second suspect, initial DZ (46), at an abandoned house on Jalan Tembok Baru, Lorong Tanjung, Jakabaring District. Officers discovered six packets of methamphetamine weighing 2.07 grams gross near the suspect. DZ admitted the methamphetamine was his and had been obtained from someone with initial BP, who remains under police pursuit.

In addition to the narcotics, police also seized other evidence including a digital scale, clear plastic clip bags, pipettes and methamphetamine scrapers, cash of Rp100,000, and two mobile phones suspected of being used to facilitate drug trafficking activities.

Meanwhile, the Narcotics Unit of Lubuk Linggau Police Force also successfully uncovered a methamphetamine trafficking case. From this operation, police arrested one suspect, initial EDF (30).

The suspect, known to have a university degree, was apprehended at a dormitory in Kelurahan Siring Agung, Lubuk Linggau Selatan II District, on Wednesday (11/3) at approximately 13:30 WIB. The arrest followed information from the public regarding suspicious activity at the location.

Following up on the report, Head of Narcotics Unit of Lubuk Linggau Police Force AKP M. Romi instructed Investigation Section Chief Ipda Purwo Arie Handoko and his team to conduct an investigation. Police then carried out a raid and search at the dormitory where the suspect was located.

From the search, officers found 14 packets of methamphetamine weighing 2.98 grams gross hidden under a mattress. Additionally, officers seized a digital scale, 10 used clear plastic clip bags, and one bundle of small-sized clear plastic clip bags suspected of being used to package narcotics before distribution.

Under initial examination, EDF admitted the methamphetamine was his and would be distributed in the Lubuk Linggau area.

Head of Narcotics Unit of Palembang Metropolitan Police, Kompol Faisal P. Manalu, stated that the uncovering of two cases in Palembang was the result of follow-up on public reports.

“These two discoveries within less than 24 hours demonstrate that our personnel are always ready to act when receiving information from the community. We are continuing to develop this case to uncover a larger supplier network,” said Faisal.

Meanwhile, Head of Narcotics Unit of Lubuk Linggau Police Force AKP M. Romi emphasised that the success of uncovering the case in his area was also due to the active role of the community. The case remains under development.

“We followed up on community information with investigation and successfully apprehended the suspect along with evidence. We are continuing to develop this case to uncover the supplier network,” explained Romi.

At the same occasion, Head of Public Relations of South Sumatra Regional Police Kombes Nandang Mu’min emphasised that the uncovering of the cases was part of South Sumatra Regional Police’s ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking.
