Makassar (ANTARA) - South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman has emphasised his commitment to continuously driving accelerated development through the 2025-2027 Multiyears Project (MYP) programme, particularly for road infrastructure connectivity and the rehabilitation of irrigation areas (DI) in Wajo Regency.

“Specifically in Wajo, the development of five strategic road segments and the strengthening of the irrigation sector represent concrete steps in enhancing connectivity and community welfare,” said Andi Sudirman in a statement in Makassar on Saturday.

Through the MYP programme, road infrastructure development in Wajo falls under Package 4, receiving a budget of Rp230 billion to address five strategic road segments.

These include the Soppeng Border – Ulugalung segment at Rp17 billion, Impa-Impa – Anabanua at Rp37 billion, Anabanua – Malake – Sidrap Border at Rp53 billion, Solo – Peneki – Kulampu at Rp65 billion, and Doping – Atapange at Rp56 billion.

Andi Sudirman explained that these segments are under provincial authority and have long been obstacles to public access, making them a priority for handling.

In the water resources sector, Wajo is also part of MYP Package 2 for irrigation area rehabilitation, with a total budget of approximately Rp48 billion. The programme covers: Cilellang Irrigation Area at Rp21 billion and Cenrana Irrigation Area at Rp26 billion.

“This rehabilitation aims to restore the function of the irrigation network to optimal levels in supporting agricultural productivity,” he clarified.

Beyond infrastructure, the South Sulawesi Governor is also continuously promoting development in other sectors in Wajo Regency in a phased manner, from school rehabilitation and agricultural seed assistance to support in religious and health fields.

“These efforts are part of the strategy for developing the Bosowasi (Bone, Soppeng, Wajo, Sinjai) area as one of the economic growth centres in South Sulawesi,” he concluded.
