The South Korean government has pledged to address excessive pricing for tourists at major Busan tourist destinations ahead of the BTS concert in the city.

According to Yonhap News Agency on Thursday (28 May), South Korea’s Ministry of Finance and Economy will take stringent action against excessive accommodation pricing for tourists in Busan.

The ministry made the statement during a task force meeting with relevant ministries amid concerns over unreasonable hotel room rates ahead of the BTS concerts in Busan on 12 and 13 June 2026.

In a press release, the ministry outlined measures to combat unfair practices such as unjustified cancellations, excessive fees, and failure by service providers to adhere to set rates.

The government will secure alternative accommodation in neighbouring cities using universities, religious facilities, and government-managed dormitories to offer affordable or free stays during the concerts.

Information on accommodation facilities for visitors attending the BTS concerts in Busan will be posted on the official Busan tourism website.

Busan City Government also plans to conduct inspections at major tourist sites within the region.

The finance ministry urged travellers to report unfair booking cancellations or unreasonable additional charges by accommodation providers to authorities.

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung warned on Wednesday that such practices could severely damage Busan’s overall reputation.
