South Korean Fashion Company to Build Factory in Batang with Rp 429 Billion Investment
A global fashion manufacturing company based on leather products from South Korea, Simone, will build a factory in the Batang Industropolis Special Economic Zone (KEK) in Central Java, through the entity PT Simone Batang Indonesia.
This investment commitment was marked by the signing of the Industrial Land Utilisation Agreement (PPTI) conducted by the Marketing and Development Director of KEK Batang Industropolis, Indri Septa Respati, and the President Director of PT Simone Batang Indonesia, Kim Jung Shik, on Wednesday (6/5) at the Ballroom of the KEK Batang Industropolis Management Office.
With an investment value reaching Rp 429 billion, PT Simone Batang Indonesia will construct an export-oriented production facility on a 8.28-hectare plot of land and is projected to absorb around 6,000 workers.
The Marketing and Development Director of KEK Batang Industropolis, Indri Septa Respati, stated that this investment is relevant in line with Indonesia’s efforts to strengthen the global competitiveness of the manufacturing industry, particularly in attracting relocation and expansion of international companies.
“This investment demonstrates that Indonesia, through KEK Batang Industropolis, is increasingly viewed as an important part of the global supply chain. We see a strengthening trend where international companies are making this zone a production base for export markets,” said Indri in his official statement on Thursday (7/5/2026).
PT Simone is a global fashion manufacturing company that has been established since 1987 and has operational footprints in various countries, including Vietnam and Cambodia. Globally, the company controls around 10% of the world market share and 30% of the US market, with retail value exceeding US$7 billion.
“We see Indonesia as one of the future production bases in Asia. KEK Batang Industropolis provides the combination of advantages we need, from policy support, zone readiness, to workforce potential,” said the President Director of PT Simone Batang Indonesia, Kim Jung Shik.
The factory construction is scheduled to begin in the next two months, with a target completion of construction and gradual operations starting in July 2027.
In addition to expanding the global production base, this investment is also expected to provide direct economic impacts through increased exports and the creation of large-scale employment opportunities.
