Banjarbaru — The South Kalimantan Regional Police Department (Polda Kalsel) has transported 617 migrants returning home for free to numerous areas across 11 districts throughout South Kalimantan using 13 bus units and one minibus.

“Alhamdulillah, today we are launching the 2026 Free Homecoming programme welcoming the Eid al-Fitr celebration of 1447 Hijriah all at once,” said Provincial Police Chief Inspector General Rosyanto Yudha Hermawan in Banjarbaru on Friday.

He emphasised the Indonesian National Police’s commitment to assisting the community to return home for free without bearing any costs whatsoever.

Beyond the financial aspect, the free homecoming programme initiated by the South Kalimantan Traffic Director Senior Commissioner Dr Fahri Siregar also guarantees passenger safety through comprehensive vehicle inspections and driver health assessments, including drug testing.

“The safety check results for all bus units have been declared roadworthy to transport migrants; today we are placing stickers on the buses,” said the Provincial Police Chief.

Meanwhile, the South Kalimantan Regional Legislative Assembly Chairperson Supian HK commended the free homecoming programme as evidence that the National Police is increasingly close to the community.

As a form of concrete support, he also distributed 100,000 rupiah in cash to each passenger whilst greeting them inside the buses.

“The Provincial Police Chief’s programme is extraordinary; this is an implementation of the National Police for the community,” he said.

On this occasion, the Provincial Police Chief alongside the Bhayangkari Chairperson Yennie Rosyanto Yudha distributed Eid gift packages to migrants as provisions for their journey home.

The Police Precision Free Homecoming programme features three routes: Route A from Banjarbaru heading to Tapin District, South Hulu Sungai, Central Hulu Sungai and North Hulu Sungai.

Then Route B from Banjarbaru heading to Tapin District, South Hulu Sungai, Central Hulu Sungai, North Hulu Sungai, Balangan, and Tabalong.

Subsequently, Route C from Banjarbaru heading to Tanah Laut District and Tanah Bumbu District.
