Despite being overshadowed by central government budget efficiency policies, the South Kalimantan Provincial Government has assured the acceleration of several priority infrastructure development projects.

The priority infrastructure projects in question include the construction of the Pulau Laut Bridge connecting Tanah Bumbu Regency and Kotabaru’s Pulau Laut, valued at nearly Rp5.9 trillion, the construction of an international stadium in Banjarbaru worth Rp1 trillion, and the central axis road connecting Banjarbaru City to Tapin Regency at Rp600 billion over 30 kilometres.

On Monday (30/3), South Kalimantan Governor Muhidin witnessed the signing of the Pulau Laut Bridge construction contract in the hall of the South Kalimantan Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (PUPR) in Banjarbaru. “We are ensuring the realisation of infrastructure development in line with our vision and mission. Although there are budget savings, we have Rp2 trillion in silpa funds, which is sufficient to support the 2026 development programme,” stated Muhidin.

The contract signing was between Bambang Asmoro and Yusdiantoro of the Joint Operation Cooperation (KSO) and the Head of the South Kalimantan PUPR Service, Muhammad Yasin Toyib, as the budget user. The total Rp5.9 trillion construction budget is through a multi-year scheme and sharing between the State Budget (APBN), Provincial Regional Budget (APBD), and the Regional Budgets of Tanah Bumbu and Kotabaru Regencies.

The annual budget sharing portions are Rp100 billion borne by the Tanah Bumbu and Kotabaru Regencies, Rp550 billion by the South Kalimantan Provincial Government, and Rp1 trillion by the Ministry of Public Works, over the next three years.

The Pulau Laut Bridge, targeted for completion in 2028, is expected to improve inter-regional connectivity in South Kalimantan, accelerate logistics flow, and drive economic growth. The total length of the approximately 3,750-metre bridge features a main cable-stayed span of 350 metres and a width of 24 metres. The construction of the central span receives funding from the central government amounting to Rp3 trillion.

The work will be carried out in stages (physical work starting in January 2026) and is targeted to be completed in 2028, involving several major contractors, namely PT Adhi WSKT KSO (2025-2028), PT Hutama Karya (2025-2026), PT Pembangunan Perumahan (2025-2026), PT Asri Praya KSO (2024-2025), PT Pandji Bangun Persada (2024-2025), and PT Adhi Karya (2015-2017). The planning parties are PT Pemetaan Engineering System KSO, PT Anugerah Kridpradana, and PT Widyadaya Bandaran.

Witnessing the signing of this project were the Director General of Road Infrastructure Development of Public Works, Rakhman Taufik, Tanah Bumbu Regent Andi Rudi Latif, and Kotabaru Regent Muhammad Rusli.
