South Kalimantan Forestry Service Advances RBC 4 for Forest and Land Rehabilitation on Mineral Lands and Mangroves
Banjarbaru (ANTARA) - The South Kalimantan Forestry Department is advancing the acceleration of forest and land rehabilitation (RHL) through the Result Based Contribution (RBC) 4 scheme, which focuses on building a mangrove arboretum and restoring mineral land, as a concrete step to support environmental sustainability.
The Head of the River Basin Management (DAS) and RHL at the South Kalimantan Forestry Department, Alip Winarto, in Banjarbaru on Thursday, said RBC 4 focuses on areas of Social Forestry and Other Land Uses (APL), blending rehabilitation of mineral land, mangroves, and mangrove arboretum innovations.
He explained that RBC 4 Programme is a continuation of RBC 1–3 which have completed planting and maintenance stages, with several areas entering first and second year maintenance.
‘The importance of cross-agency collaboration to make the programme effective, involving BPDAS Barito, forest area usage approvals (PPKH), and stakeholders of KPH/Tahura areas,’ Alip said.
Earlier, a coordination meeting on DAS rehabilitation had been a major contributor to RHL implementation, with the target rehabilitation area in the 2026 fiscal year, reaching 6,053 hectares in several districts.
Alip hopes this activity can improve the management quality of the DAS, promote mangrove ecosystem restoration, and sustain forests and lands in South Kalimantan.
The South Kalimantan Forestry Department emphasised that RBC 4 is a measure-based, results-oriented step, while ensuring social forestry and land rehabilitation are implemented effectively and have a real environmental impact.
