South Jakarta Police Guard Two Temples During Lunar New Year Celebrations
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The South Jakarta Metropolitan Police deployed security at two temples during Lunar New Year celebrations to ensure all religious activities proceeded safely and smoothly.
"Security measures are focused on two temples in the South Jakarta area, namely Vihara Bio Hok Tek Tjen Sin (Kebayoran Lama) and Vihara Amurva Bhumi (Setiabudi)," said Head of Operations of the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police, AKBP Tribuana Roseno, in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The security operation was conducted in coordination with the Indonesian Military (TNI), the South Jakarta Administrative City Government, the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), the Transportation Agency (Dishub) and other related agencies.
This cross-sector collaboration represents a joint commitment to providing a sense of safety and comfort for the community celebrating Lunar New Year.
At both locations, joint personnel were deployed to carry out overt and covert security operations, traffic management, sterilisation of worship areas and dialogic patrols to anticipate potential public order disturbances.
Additionally, the Transportation Agency conducted traffic engineering and parking management, whilst the Civil Service Police Unit assisted with public order supervision around the event locations.
Beyond temple security, the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police also conducted patrols and monitoring at various community activities.
The presence of joint security forces among the public serves as a form of preventive policing as well as an early detection effort against potential security threats.
The South Jakarta Metropolitan Police affirmed that these security measures are part of the National Police's commitment to maintaining tolerance and harmony among religious communities, and to ensuring that every citizen can worship and celebrate religious occasions safely and solemnly.
It is hoped that the Lunar New Year celebrations in the South Jakarta area will proceed in a safe, orderly and conducive manner, thanks to the coordination of all security elements and active community participation in maintaining local security.
The Jakarta Metropolitan Police added 155 personnel to the security operation.
