RT 11 RW 07, Gandaria Utara, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, has received appreciation from Metro Jaya Police for various innovations in community security systems that have been implemented. This RT 11 is considered a role model for a secure neighbourhood in Jakarta.

RT 11 Chairman Imam Basori said the appreciation from Metro Jaya Police was conveyed when officers from Metro Jaya Police visited the neighbourhood. Initially, Metro Jaya Police wanted to verify the reality of the security innovations installed in RT 11.

“Yes, that’s right (we received appreciation). So yesterday, Metro Jaya Police came to our neighbourhood, saw directly the situation and conditions on the ground, whether it’s real or just viral,” Imam explained when met by detikcom at the RT 11 Satkamling Post on Saturday (9/5/2026).

“And alhamdulillah, Metro Jaya Police said our neighbourhood can be used as an example, a role model for a secure environment,” he added.

On the other hand, Imam said there were several messages also conveyed by Metro Jaya Police officers during the visit. He said that the security innovations formed by the RT 11 community must be maintained consistently.

“One thing also emphasised by Metro Jaya Police is that this environment must be maintained consistently and transparently, so that the community is also safe and comfortable,” he said.

Imam revealed the motivation for creating innovations to improve security in his neighbourhood. According to him, neighbourhood security is a basic need of the community.

“The main motivation is that in the neighbourhood, the primary position is the foundation, and the foundation must be safe first. After the safe foundation is achieved, then we move to comfort. It must be comfortable; after it’s comfortable, it can develop, develop to other fields,” Imam stated.

Imam, who is also a police officer in the Intelkam at National Police Headquarters with the rank of iptu, understands well how to maintain security. As a member of the Bhayangkara force, he tries to implement the knowledge he has in providing service and protection from the smallest scope, namely his residents.

“This is also part of our implementation as police in serving and protecting the community. The knowledge we gain in the police must be applied in community life,” Imam explained.

“By creating a safe environment, this is a real manifestation of us serving and protecting the community,” he continued.

Despite being busy with police duties, Imam admitted it’s no problem. He considers being an RT head the same as carrying out official police duties.

“We must be able to do it, we must maximise both. At the office, maximise; in the neighbourhood, maximise. We make work in the community also as a duty, we serve in the community,” he added.

So far, the innovations made by Imam to improve security in his neighbourhood range from installing e-gates or digital gates, a 24-hour CCTV surveillance system connected to residents’ smartphones, a panic button system when residents encounter problems in the neighbourhood, providing GPS to each resident’s motorbike that is monitored on their phones, and night announcements to remind residents to jointly maintain security, named ‘Si Jaga Warga’.

From all his efforts to improve security in the neighbourhood, RT 11 has remained free of criminal acts to date. He attributes this to the cooperation of the residents.

“The results, alhamdulillah, up to now from the launch until now, alhamdulillah zero criminality, zero motorbike theft, zero other activities,” he said.

Utilising Rp 2.5 Million Funds from the Provincial Government

Imam explained that all the community security innovations made together with residents truly maximise the Rp 2.5 million funds provided by the provincial government. All the funds, Imam said, go back to the residents.

“So we maximise the costs from the RT operational funds. In Jakarta, it’s Rp 2.5 million per month. We really maximise this for the community’s interests,” said Imam.

Imam explained that the operational money is provided by the provincial government to improve the quality of the environment. In fact, he said, they even made detailed calculations so that the usage can truly be seen by residents and the benefits are directly felt.

“So everything starts from the community, nothing is hidden by us, nothing is omitted, everything I promote fully for our community so that this is fully used for the environment,” Imam stated.
